Citroën C5 Aircross Hybrid: despite the name, this is a plug-in hybrid. So far at least, only Groupe PSA’s one-motor PHEV system is offered. This means front-wheel drive only. Maximum claimed range in EV mode is 50km and combined outputs are 225PS and 320Nm, with the standard transmission an eight-speed automatic. A two-motor/AWD variant may follow.

Jaguar F-Type facelift: engine line-up is reduced to three for the UK: 300PS 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo (RWD only), 450PS and 580Nm 5.0-litre supercharged V8 (RWD or AWD), 575PS and 700Nm 5.0-litre supercharged V8 (AWD only). The last of these is for the F-Type R and therefore a gain of 25PS for this model grade. All are linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 380PS 3.0-litre supercharged V6 is not available in the UK but remains available in certain other countries. As with the 450PS V8, it can be ordered with RWD or AWD.

Opel Corsa-e: production is about to commence, with the first cars due for customer delivery in March. This fully electric five-door hatchback is powered by a 100kW (136PS) motor, the battery has a capacity of 50kWh and the WLTP range is 330km (205 miles).

Opel Grandland X Hybrid & Hybrid4: these are single motor/front-wheel drive and two motors/all-wheel drive plug-in hybrids. Each is powered by a 1.6-litre petrol turbo. Combined outputs are 225PS or 300PS. The capacity of the lithium-ion battery, which is mounted under the back seats, is 13.2kWh.

Opel Insignia facelift: as part of the changes, Vauxhall will no longer offer the estate, while both brands had already discontinued the Country Tourer. The GSi is still all-wheel drive but Opel doesn’t mention a loss of power and torque. These have fallen from the pre-facelift car’s 191kW and 400Nm to 169kW and 350Nm. The engine is still a 2.0-litre petrol turbo but the eight-speed automatic gearbox is replaced by one with nine speeds. The GSi diesel has been dropped too.

Renault Clio E-Tech Hybrid: 140hp 1.6-litre petrol-electric powertrain, 1.2kWh (230V) battery mounted below the boot floor.

Renault Captur E-Tech Plug-in Hybrid: 160hp 1.6-litre petrol-electric PHEV powertrain, 9.8kWh (400V) battery, top speed in EV mode is 135km/h with maximum range (WLTP) of 50km. Available from mid-year.
