The granted patent (Publication Number: US11888202B2) discloses a fuel cell stack design that consists of power generation cells stacked vertically. Each power generation cell includes a membrane electrode assembly, a support frame, and two separators to hold them together. The cells have first and second holes, with the first holes forming a gas manifold for gas flow and the second holes forming a passage adjacent to the gas manifold. The gas supplying passage and the passage are connected at the upper ends, allowing efficient gas distribution within the cells.

Furthermore, the fuel cell stack includes a unique feature of a wall surface above the connection point of the gas manifold and the passage. This wall surface has an inclined surface with varying heights, decreasing from the side corresponding to the gas manifold towards the side corresponding to the passage. Additionally, the inclined surface has a higher hydrophilicity compared to other sections of the wall surface. This design aims to enhance the performance and efficiency of the fuel cell stack by optimizing gas distribution and flow within the cells, ultimately improving power generation capabilities.
