The granted patent (Publication Number: US11926375B2) discloses a steering control device for a steering system, comprising a housing, a turning shaft, and an actuator applying motor torque. The device includes an electronic control unit that detects an absolute steering angle, determines if the turning shaft movement is limited, and compares the sum of limit position determination angles on both sides with a stroke threshold value. The end-position-corresponding angles are set in memory based on the limit position determination angles when the first stroke width exceeds the stroke threshold value. These end-position-corresponding angles represent the physical limit of the turning shaft's movement when in contact with the housing.

Furthermore, the patent describes additional features of the steering control device. The electronic control unit can set the end-position-corresponding angle on one side based on multiple limit position determination angles on that side. It also considers the center separation angles between the limit position determination angles and a vehicle center angle to determine if the end-position-corresponding angle should be set. Additionally, the control unit can set the end-position-corresponding angle on the other side if the second stroke width exceeds the stroke threshold value, or discard the end-position-corresponding angle on one side if the second stroke width is equal to or less than the threshold. These features aim to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the steering control device in managing the movement limitations of the turning shaft within the steering system.
