The global automotive industry experienced a 28% rise in new job postings related to robotics in Q3 2022 compared with the previous quarter, according to GlobalData’s according to GlobalData’s whitepaper on Robotics in Automotive – Hiring Activity in Q3 2022. This compares to a 62% increase versus Q3 2021.
Notably, Aerospace Engineers jobs accounted for an 11% share of the global automotive industry’s robotics-related total new job postings in Q3 2022, up 94% over the prior quarter.
Aerospace Engineers, with a share of 11%, emerged as the top robotics-related job roles within the automotive industry in Q3 2022, with new job postings rising by 94% quarter-on-quarter. Maintenance and Repair Workers, General came in second with a share of 9% in Q3 2022, with new job postings rising by 65% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent robotics roles include Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a 9% share in Q3 2022, Miscellaneous Engineers with a 6% share of new job postings.
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2022 were Dana OFF HIGHWAY PRODUCTS, Dana, Tesla and Nemak SAB de CV. Together they accounted for a combined share of 92% of all robotics-related active jobs in the automotive industry.
Dana OFF HIGHWAY PRODUCTS posted 411 robotics-related new jobs in Q3 2022, Dana 391 jobs, Tesla 264 jobs, and Nemak SAB de CV 194 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
The largest share of robotics-related new job postings in the automotive industry in Q3 2022 was in the US with 65% followed by Canada (6%) and Germany (5%). The share represented by the US was seven percentage points higher than the 58% share it accounted for in Q2 2022.
