Architecture and Engineering Occupations, with a share of 28%, emerged as the top robotics-related job roles within the auto industry in Q4 2023, with new job postings drop by 26% quarter-on-quarter. Computer and Mathematical Occupations came in second with a share of 17% in Q4 2023, with new job postings dropping by 37% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent robotics roles include Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations with a 15% share in Q4 2023, Production Occupations with a 6% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in auto industry accounted for 42% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q4 2023 were Tesla, Continental, General Motors, Magna International, and Valeo. Together they accounted for a combined share of 42% of all robotics-related new jobs in the auto industry.
Tesla posted 342 robotics-related new jobs in Q4 2023, Continental 113 jobs, General Motors 111 jobs, Magna International 99 jobs, and Valeo 75 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 58.89% share of total new job postings, Q4 2023
The largest share of robotics-related new job postings in the auto industry in Q4 2023 was in the US with 58.89% followed by India (8.18%) and Mexico (7.32%). The share represented by the US was one percentage point higher than the 57.56% share it accounted for in Q3 2023.
