Quarterly/fiscal full year results continued to roll in this week with a healthy uptick at Suzuki in 2012/3, the latest Japanese automaker to finally shrug off the combined effects of the double whammy Japanese earthquake and Thai floods – and also benefit from the recent downward movement of the yen.
Subaru builder Fuji Heavy enjoyed a great year and said it would expand its US factory to build North American Imprezas there as well, as Japan moves yet more production overseas. Nine hundred new jobs won’t go amiss in Indiana, either.
Geely’s Volvo, with refreshing frankness, said it broke even after a challenging year, and any automaker largely dependent on Europe would agree over the ‘challenging’ bit.
And, after a loss last year, Visteon was back in the black in the first quarter.
