The week began in fine form with news of a shake-up of the management ranks at Volkswagen Group, to included a new head of Audi America as the current incumbent set sail for Hong Kong and Nissan’s Infiniti unit.

That wasn’t the end of management changes for the week; just last night Lotus confirmed the – immediate – departure of its CEO and we opine on that move here. And there’s a new marketing supremo at Jaguar here in the UK.

Faurecia got started in the US after buying the interiors business from ACH and some other production milestones this week included Nissan’s 2013 Almera SOP in Mississippi, the three millionth engine from BMW Hams Hall here in central England (an old power station site usefully recycled) and Trailblazer revival at the Chevrolet plant in Rayong, Thailand.

Speaking of Thailand, Honda only builds Civic sedans there so the Kiwi and Aussie subsidiaries have decided to offer the five-door hatchback again (I bet only since Honda Europe learned the hard way customers don’t like automated manuals and swapped in a proper five-speed torque converter ‘box for the recent redesign) and are shipping in some from Swindon. More exports for British Motor Industry plc…

Finally, May US sales – yes, the Japanese were up but the overall result was a bit disappointing. Much like the jubilee weekend weather…

Have a nice weekend.
