Intriguing observation from the Los Angeles motor show this week. No one from British HQ on the Aston Martin stand, which was run instead by the local dealer, so perhaps they were all back in Blighty readying for a much-rumoured sale?
We were nattering about that in the office yesterday. Should India’s Mahindra & Mahindra nab that 50% controlling stake, reportedly up for grabs, that would be two former Ford Premier Automotive Group (PAG) ‘British’ luxury car units owned or at least controlled by the one-time ‘jewel of the empire’. Tata Motors‘ Jaguar Land Rover is the other. Bit of a turn-about, eh?
The LA show itself was pretty much as expected, a product fest, with little major industry news of global interest (plenty for the US, though), and we’ve grouped our coverage together here. You might find this auto-buying snapshot of the great state of Callyfornya interesting, too.
While Renault‘s Dacia was touting a very low lease rate for one of its models as it gears up to launch here in the UK, Euro NCAP put the boot in, proving that the old adage – you get what you pay for – still rings true.
Chevrolet has given the US market another electric car, that should Spark up the competition, and Saab‘s receivers are auctioning off the true Final Editions.
Have a nice weekend.
