IAC has opened an engineering centre in Pune, India as well as holding the groundbreaking ceremony for a manufacturing site within General Motors’ new supplier park in Arlington, Texas.

The Pune facility will focus on application development engineering to support vehicle interior needs of domestic and global customer programmes. The opening increases IAC’s presence in India to six locations and 28 design, technical, and commercial centres around the world.

“The newest IAC facility in Pune will enhance our global integrated engineering solutions focused on the development of premium automotive interiors,” said IAC SVP global strategic development, Marcus Nyman.

“All around the world our development activities focus on solutions to reduce weight and increase the use of renewable materials in vehicles.”

With the ability to accommodate up to 150 employees, the site will provide design engineering and application development support to domestic vehicle manufacturing programmes for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), such as Mahindra and Tata, as well as to IAC locations worldwide.

General Motors also unveiled plans to open a new supplier park to support future vehicle production at its Arlington Assembly, where IAC will establish one of its main manufacturing sites in the US.
