Impco Technologies has begun more development projects for Bajaj of New Delhi, India at its headquarters in Cerritos, California.

The projects consist of propane (LPG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) applications and design development for Bajaj’s two-wheeled scooters and three-wheeled auto- rickshaws.

India is home to five of the most populous metro-areas in the Asian region, and among the most polluted. In conjunction with the Indian government, Impco and its joint venture partner, Minda, is helping to alleviate pollution from motor vehicles by working with vehicle makers to build new models that operate on clean-burning gaseous fuels such as propane and natural gas.

Minda-IMPCO is also developing aftermarket conversion kits for vehicles already on the road. These include heavy-duty trucks and buses, vans, light trucks and two and three wheeled scooters and auto-rickshaws.

Changing to low emission gaseous fuels is a key strategy for India in its search for cleaner air. There are over 26 million two and three wheeled vehicles on the roads.
