Fred Maguire, chairman of dealer group Lookers Plc, has taken over from John Bond-Smith as president of the UK Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMI). He will stay in office until the summer of 2004. He said: “I feel privileged to become the new president of the RMI at such a crucial time in the history of the retail motor industry.

“We are mere months away from the establishment of a new block exemption regulation and I am looking forward to helping guide its implementation among the UK#;s professional motor retailers and service and repair outlets.”
