Ford has followed GM in announcing another round of new car incentives yesterday after posting a 7.4 percent fall in its sales for April.
Most 2002 Ford-badged vehicles now have a cash-back rebate ranging from $US1,500 to $2,500 while the Escape SUV offers $500 cash-back and the Windstar minivan, which goes out of production this year, comes with a $3,000 rebate.

Ford is currently selling only its limited-production Thunderbird convertible and sporty SVT models – including the new Focus version – without incentives.
Like GM, Ford is largely scrapping 0 percent finance deals it started offering last fall following the September 11 attacks on New York and Washington but is now offering financing rates from 0.9 percent on 36-month loans for some vehicles — including the Explorer SUV – along with $1,000 cash.
The 0.9 percent rate also applies to 48-month loans on some models.
Earlier this week, GM announced a revised range of incentives including 1.9 percent on 36-month finance plans and cash rebates of up to $3,000.
Both companies are offering their new deals until July 1.
