GERMANY: Volkswagen mulls axing three-door Polo hatchback
Volkswagen is expected to axe the three-door Polo hatchback next redesign as it aims to increase cost savings at the VW brand to EUR5bn (US$5.5bn) a year by 2017, news agency sources have said.

The company plans to launch a redesigned Polo in 2017. The new model would be available only with four doors, Reuters reported.
German magazine Spiegel said Volkswagen plans to stop manufacturing three-door Polos as it would save EUR200m for the company. The magazine added the company might also discontinue the Beetle.
“There are no decisions yet” on future Beetle and Polo models, a Volkswagen spokesperson was quoted as saying.
