The company’s CEO Datuk Aminar Rashid said Perodua is gearing up for a more aggressive and comprehensive export strategy from 2017. It already exports the Myvi small hatchback to markets in the region. In Indonesia, the model is sold by Daihatsu as the Sirion.

Amir also confirmed that Perodua is planning to introduce a new model in the future, the Perodua Sedan. He would not say when but confirmed it is currently at prototype stage. Perodua sold 74,700 cars in its home market in the first four months of the year, equivalent to almost 35% of the market, almost twice the volumes of the once dominant Proton.
