Toyota GB is following Fiat and other rivals by establishing a Professional dealer network for select light commercial vehicle customers.

The move comes ahead of LCV range growth with the new Proace City compact van – a derivative of a PSA small van line – set to join the South African built Hilux pickup, PSA supplied Proace medium duty van range and Japan made Land Cruiser Commercial this spring.

Targeting self-employed business people who own or lease just one or two vehicles, and SMEs running fleets of up to 50 LCVs, Toyota Professional's tagline is: "We've got your back".

Mark Roden, Toyota (GB) operations director, said: "With the arrival of Proace City, our range will cover the second largest segment in the LCV market, helping us reach a much wider customer base with a product that boasts best in class performance and load carrying abilities. Toyota Professional will help us maximise its potential and strengthen our relationship with new and existing customers."

Toyota now covers LCVs with a five-year warranty and five years' roadside assistance, and owners are guaranteed a service appointment within seven days. If the seven day target cannot be met, the servicing labour charge will be halved.

Existing customers will get free roadside assistance cover each time they complete an interim or full service at a manufacturer authorised centre. This will cover the vehicle until the next service.

Participating retailers must feature the LCV range prominently in displays and provide easy access to demonstrator vehicles.

Staff receive special training covering product, aftersales and finance.
