Renault has put some employees at its Île-de-France [large area around Paris] sites on temporary contracts.

At the same time, negotiations are under way with the CFDT, CFE-CGC, CGT and FO trade unions to propose what the manufacturer terms “a solidarity and future contract for Renault and its industrial subsidiaries in France.”

In response to the health situation and in compliance with the measures taken by the French government, Renault has suspended its commercial, industrial and logistics activities since 16 March. Activity at after-sales sites has been significantly reduced and a majority of employees are partially employed.

In the Île-de-France region, employees whose activity allows them to do so are teleworking.

“Against the backdrop of a highly disrupted global automotive market, Renault is continuing to adapt its work organisation in France,” said a Renault statement. “As of Monday, 30 March, the vast majority of employees at sites in the Paris Region will be working part-time at 50%.

“In this context, employees will work in the mornings until 1:00 pm. Those whose activity requires it will continue to work full-time. On Friday, 27 March, the company’s management opened negotiations with the CFDT, CFE-CGC, CGT and FO trade unions to propose a solidarity and future contract.
