ElringKlinger Group says it has secured a major contract for the supply of lightweight shielding systems to an unnamed Japanese volume automaker.

The overall volume of the order stands at around US$10m per annum with series supply starting in 2017.

“The major serial production order placed by a Japanese customer for the supply of lightweight shielding parts from our manufacturing plants in Japan and the US is a milestone in our efforts to expand our current business relationship,” said ElringKlinger board member responsible for sales original equipment and new business areas, Karl Schmauder.

“Thanks to the functionality of our shielding parts, in combination with their low weight, we are certain to unlock further potential in this area.”

ElringKlinger is a supplier to all major vehicle and engine manufacturers around the globe.

The company will supply lightweight shielding components for exhaust manifolds fitted to a next-generation engine to be launched by the Japanese car maker.
