The Nissan-Renault-Mitsubishi alliance is to go deeper, according to media reports in Japan.

Nissan Motor, Renault and Mitsubishi Motors will in May draft plans for a deeper alliance including joint development of more electric vehicles (EVs) and self-driving technology, Reuters reported, citing the Yomiuri daily newspaper.

The three companies would include the projects in their respective mid-term business plans, the paper said, without citing sources.

Plans include the automakers sharing EV motors and batteries while Nissan and Renault would start building each other's cars at factories in South America and Russia to boost production efficiency, the paper said, according to Reuters.
