Honda has boosted first fiscal quarter operating profit 16.4% to JPY239.2bn (US$1,954m).

The automaker said the gain was due mainly to higher sales, ongoing cost reduction and favourable foreign currency effects, though selling and ‘quality related’ expenses rose.
