Tata Motors has been working on the next generation Sumo which is expected on sale in 2018.

Media reports said the vehicle will cost between INR600,000 and INR900,000 and would replace the Movus. It may have a smaller engine with power output similar to the current Sumo Gold. The company is developing the new model to meet the new Indian crash test rules.

The new Sumo will use technology from Tata’s Land Rover unit and be built on a completely new platform, the media reports said.
