“We have seen positive business developments despite difficult market and competitive environments,” Wolfgang Diez, head of the DaimlerChrysler buses and coaches business area, reportedly said, adding: “We expect an improvement in sales, revenue and profit over the full year 2003.”

Dow Jones said the buses and coaches business area, part of the company’s commercial vehicles division, reported €3 billion in revenue last year on the sale of 25,100 units. In terms of units sold, Latin America is the unit’s largest market, Diez reportedly said, while western Europe remains the biggest market in terms of revenue.

According to Dow Jones, he said that he expects the unit to be more profitable, adding that production capacity in Germany is at entirely satisfactory levels.
