Africa’s leading motor show, Auto Africa, takes place in Johannesburg from October 22 to 27 and more than 300 exhibitors will show their wares to participants from more than 40 countries, according to organisers, writes Dave Cumming.

This will be the fourth such expo, which has taken place every other year since 1996, and this year it will cover 55,000 square metres of exhibition space.

All South African vehicle manufacturers will exhibit, many taking the opportunity to launch new models, as will component manufacturers, the body repair industry and the garage equipment industry.

Trucking and performance equipment will also be on show in dedicated halls.

It is anticipated more than 200 000 visitors will attend the parallel trade and public exhibition. October 22 to 25 are the trade days and October 25, 26 and 27 are public days.

Several conferences and conventions will run in parallel, as will the nomination of the eight SA Guild of Motoring Journalists’ Car of the Year finalists and other supporting events.
