Canada’s Regional District of Nanaimo, in partnership with 11 local and regional governments, is to install 28 EV charging stations on Vancouver Island.
This expands the existing network of Level 2 EV stations in the Nanaimo and Parksville area, as well as in communities such as Courtenay, Comox, Cumberland, Campbell River, Tofino and Ucluelet.

“Expanding electric vehicle stations across Vancouver Island will make clean transportation options more viable to more people,” said Federal Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, Catherine McKenna.
Around C$230,000 (US$176,000) from the province’s CleanBC Communities Fund and C$275,000 from the Federal government’s Green Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Programme will be available for the project. Participating local governments are together investing C$183,000.
The new stations in key locations are based on public demand and current gaps in availability.
The CleanBC Communities Fund invests in public infrastructure owned by local governments, indigenous communities, not-for-profit and projects in partnership with for-profit entities.
