Britain’s Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) has appointed Philippa Oldham and Jo Evans to realise its vision to place the UK at the forefront of the global transition to net zero emissions, through clean transport and mobility solutions.

The APC is a GBP1bn (US$1.3bn) joint venture between government and the automotive industry, which in seven years has reduced CO2 emissions equivalent to removing 8.8m cars from the road.

Oldham, a chartered engineer with experience of managing a range of stakeholders from government, industry and academia to create solutions that challenge existing sector silos, has been promoted to Stakeholder Engagement director.

Evans, a chartered marketer with an MA in strategic communications and with more than two decade’s experience working across industrial sectors, has been promoted to Strategy and Performance director.

“The APC is harnessing knowledge and insight to secure a net-zero automotive sector in the UK,” said APC chief executive, Ian Constance.

“Philippa and Jo have already played a key role in helping the APC achieve massive progress towards this vision. Their promotions will further accelerate our ability to help build a stronger UK economy through the delivery of safe, sustainable and affordable mobility.”

The APC accelerates the industrialisation of technologies, which will help to realise net-zero emission vehicles. It is at the heart of the UK government’s commitment to end the country’s contribution to global warming by 2050.

Funding for both research and development and capital investment is available through a series of streams including Core Competitions, the Technology Developer Accelerator Programme and the newly-created Automotive Transformation Fund, with the leadership of Julian Hetherington, Automotive Transformation director, who was appointed in early 2020.
