Nissan Motor last week said it was increasing vehicle production in Thailand in response to growing demand for models such as the Kicks e-Power SUV and the Navara pickup truck.
The automaker said it was looking to add 2,000 workers at its manufacturing facilities in Samut Prakan, near Bangkok, to meet growing regional demand.

Ramesh Narasimhan, president of Nissan Thailand, told reporters "the increased production comes on the heels of growing exports, in particular for the Kicks e-Power and Navara. Within Thailand, we also see strong demand for the redesigned Almera sedan and the Kicks e-Power".
Earlier this year Nissan announced closure of its remaining plant in Indonesia, by the end of 2020, as part of a global restructuring plan aimed at reversing last year's record losses.
Vehicles markets across south east Asia are sharply lower this year after economies in the region plunged due to widespread lockdowns to help slow the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sales in Thailand were down by 35% to 448,006 units in the first eight months of the year while Indonesia volume plunged 51% to 323,507.
