French union, CFDT has welcomed news concerning the new Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance operating board, albeit with the caveat social and employee wage issues should be to the fore.

The CFDT – Confédération Française Démocratique du Travail – noted “with satisfaction” the new arrangement.

“The CFDT supports an organisation which maintains the presence of the three businesses and respects their cultures, all the while looking for what can be shared,” said a CFDT statement. “To break with the obscure character of the working of RNBV [Dutch holding], it is necessary to increase transparency and the control of the Alliance functioning by the respective boards.

“The simplification of how governance works must also result in a simplification in employees’ daily work on common projects. And the CFDT suggests synergy projects start from propositions by staff.

“Finally, this stage is the occasion for the three businesses to rethink what is the raison d’etre of the Alliance. It’s the moment to evolve the social aspect of the business, in building the raison d’etre of Renault in the interests of stakeholders, in particular, the staff.

“The CFDT maintains and reaffirms the fact the future of Renault is indissoluble from that of the Alliance.”
