Fiat India Ltd, a subsidiary of Fiat, has said it will unveil a new vehicle for the Indian market on September 8, writes Auto.com (18/8/00).

The Siena Weekend station wagon, available in a 1,600cc petrol engine alongside a 1,700 diesel engine, will be built on the same platform as the Palio hatchback and the Siena compact car, says the report.

Fiat, the world’s fifth largest automaker, plans to build around 400 Weekends per month, according to a company spokesman, with a number of those built exported to the UK, starting in December.

The Weekend, the first station wagon from a foreign car-maker in India, may be priced between 700,000 ($15,555) and 800,000 rupees, said the spokesman.
