HBPO, which claims to be world market leader for development and production of front-end modules, will open three factories in Germany and Mexico in 2018.

It expects to spend EUR25m (US$30.7m) expanding output and, by the end of the year, will have 35 sites.

HBPO operates as a just-in-sequence supplier, customising each module just before completion of the vehicle and supplying it to the customer's production line. Hence the need to be as close as possible to the vehicle final assembly line.

The new sites are near customers in Vaihingen (Baden-Wurttemberg), Saltillo and Aguascalientes (Mexico).

"The competitiveness of our company and the associated good market positioning has helped us to achieve new orders from major car manufacturers", said CEO Martin Schuler.

An HBPO development office in Sindelfingen opened back in February. It's the supplier's eighth such facility.
