Oshkosh Truck Corporation on Thursday said third quarter profit rose 12% on stronger sales of emergency and military vehicles, Reuters reported.

The news agency said Oshkosh, which also makes cement mixers and rubbish trucks, also raised its earnings outlook for the full year ending September 30 to $US4 a share from $3.70 a share previously, citing a strong backlog of defence business.

According to Reuters, the company, based in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, reported net income of $24.2 million, or $1.39 a share, for the third quarter ended on June 30, compared with $21.6 million, or $1.24 a share, a year earlier, while sales increased to $538.2 million from $489.5 million.
