Volkswagen is in the midst of a recall campaign for all new Polos (ours come from South Africa) after discovering a problem with rear seat belt buckles.
"There is the possibility that in rare situations (eg sudden quick lane changes with five passengers on board) and when the rear centre seat and the rear left seat are occupied at the same time, the left seat belt lock could be unintentionally released," VW said in a statement.

"The brand has identified a technical solution: a redesigned belt lock fixture, which will prevent this from happening."
The automaker said the recently redesigned Polo was legally homologated and safe to drive but it has advised oeners customers not to use the middle seat until the car has the redesigned belt lock fixture.
It is starting a recall campaign. Customers will receive a letter so as to plan an appointment with a service dealer. The check, as well as the replacement with the redesigned belt lock fixture, will be free of charge.
