Ford has said it was winding down a joint venture formed with Daimler to develop automotive fuel cell technology.
The Automotive Fuel Cell Cooperation Corp venture, based in Burnaby, British Columbia, will close this summer, Ford told Reuters.

Reuters noted Honda Motor and General Motors were collaborating on fuel cell development while Toyota Motor was ramping up efforts to mass-produce fuel cell stacks.
Ballard Power Systems has just extended a contract with Volkswagen Group's Audi to work on fuel cell development.
Ford "will take fuel cell stack development in-house, as well as leverage the supply base, and close Automotive Fuel Cell Cooperation by summer 2018," the automaker was quoted as saying.
"Both companies will continue to explore ways to cooperate on developing fuel cell stack modules."
Reuters noted Daimler chief executive Dieter Zetsche earlier this year indicated the automaker was shifting its focus towards battery-electric vehicles.
The fuel cell venture employed about 200 people, according to the report.
