PSA’s current director, Supply Chain and Manufacturing Yann Vincent, will continue in his role, while Opel component procurement will be a separate entity, contributing to the aim of making the German and British arms profitable by 2020.

“It is a change of management at Opel,” a PSA spokesman told just-auto from Paris. “Yann Vincent will remain supply chain director of PSA Group.

“It is team Opel – it does not involve structural [change] at all of PSA. It is completely apart.”

PSA said the Opel/Vauxhall management team will work on a plan for the future in the next 100 days. “We are eager to build the plan with PSA’s support and obviously together with our partners from the Works Council and the unions,” said Opel CEO, Michael Lohscheller.

Synergies within the PSA Group or example in purchasing and development will play a major part, PSA says.

The combined entity will unlock what it maintains will be “substantial economies of scale and synergies in purchasing, manufacturing and R&D,” estimated at an EUR1.7bn (US$2bn) run rate.
