Chinese automaker JAC Motors plans to invest BRL200m (US$61m) in a new vehicle assembly plant in Brazil.
The facility, to be built in Itumbiara in the central state of Goias, is scheduled to be completed within two years. It will have an initial production capacity of 35,000 vehicles a year and employ 820 people.

JAC Motors Brazil President Sergio Habib formally presented the company’s plans to the state governor earlier this week, according to local reports.
Earlier in the decade JAC scrapped plans to build a 100,000-unit assembly plant in Brazil due to changes in import regulations.
The first model to roll off the production line will be the T40 compact SUV, in 2019, which will be built from knocked-down kits imported from China.
The Brazilian vehicle market this year has been recovering from a four-year, with sales expected to rise by over 10% to close to 2.3 million units in 2017. In 2012, the market peaked at over 3.8 million units.
