Until now, the pickup truck in Thailand was produced exclusively at the company’s AutoAlliance (Thailand) joint venture plant with Mazda, also located in Rayong.

Ford has invested US$186m to the pickup truck line at its second plant, which is controlled by its wholly-owned subsidiary Ford Thailand Manufacturing (FTM).

The company said that the AutoAlliance facility is operating at close to full capacity and will remain the Ranger’s main production facility in Asia Pacific.

The Ford Manufacturing Thailand plant already had an installed annual capacity of 180,000 units per year for the production of the Focus, Fiesta and Ecosport passenger vehicles.
