Valmet Automotive says its recruiting campaign for 250 carbuilders has yielded a record number of applications.
In total, 2,597 applications were made between November and December, with the selection process continuing to the end of January.

The recruiting campaign closed yesterday (18 December) was the first, with Valmet Automotive looking for more than 1,000 staff for production of the Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV. The campaigns will continue next year.
Selected applicants will be trained from January to February, 2017, with the carbuilders employed at the Uusikaupunki plant in body, paint and assembly shops, as well as in internal logistics.
“We received a total of 2,597 applications, more than ever before,” said Valmet HR director, Tomi Salo.
“Strong media exposure of Valmet Automotive helped us, but we are launching new measures to support our forthcoming recruiting, because we will need plenty of applicants in our future campaigns as well.”

Applicants were aged between 18 and 55, with 25% of applications from women.
Valmet Automotive will start manufacturing the Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV at the Uusikaupunki plant early next year.
Valmet is a provider of automotive engineering, vehicle manufacturing, convertible roof systems and consulting services.
Areas include premium cars, convertibles and electric vehicles, with employees in Finland, Germany and Poland.
