Hans Dieter Pötsch, 51, has been appointed a full Member of the Board of
Management of Volkswagen AG, initially without a specific area of responsibility, with effect from 1 January 2003. The resolution appointing him was adopted by the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG at its meeting today.

Following his induction, Mr. Pötsch is to assume responsibilities for controlling and accounting from Dr. Bruno Adelt, 63, whose contract expires on 31 December 2003.
Hans Dieter Pötsch has been Chairman of the Board of Management of Dürr AG,
Stuttgart, since 1995. After graduating in mechanical engineering and economics, Mr. Pötsch worked for BMW AG, Munich, from 1979 to 1987, finally as Head of Group Controlling. He then became Managing Director of Trumpf GmbH + Co, Ditzingen, responsible for finance and strategy. From 1991 to 1996, he was responsible for the business of Traub AG, Reichenbach, as Chairman of the Board of Management.
