Audi says it has – for the first time – sold more than 50,000 vehicles in China in one month.

The brand sold 50,756 units in June, 14.1% ahead of last year.

In the first half of the year, it managed to increase Greater China sales by 17.8% to 268,666 units.

“We have thus strengthened our position as the leading premium brand in China,” claimed Luca de Meo, Member of the Board of Management for Sales at AUDI AG.

“We are well on the way to achieving our target of delivering significantly more than half a million cars to customers in China this year.”

An important factor behind this success in the first half of the year was the production of cars locally in China: 224,666 deliveries represent growth of 21%. Locally assembled vehicles now include the Audi Q3 and Audi Q5 (H1 deliveries of 35,140 and 52,216 units respectively).
