Total Indonesian vehicle sales are expected to come in at close to 1.1m units in 2012 – up 23% on the previous year.
Indonesia has a substantial market for small, cab over, pickup trucks which is dominated by Daihatsu, Suzuki and Mitsubishi-Fuso. The market for Thai-made 1-tonne pickup trucks such as the Tata Xenon also has expanded rapidly in recent years.
Tata Motors Indonesia also plans to follow up this initial market entry with low-cost passenger cars.
