Existing Faurecia plants make interior systems and emissions control technologies in Louisville. The supplier said in a statement the new factory “expands Faurecia’s company-wide commitment to this region”.

Nik Endrud, president of Faurecia Automotive Seating, said the metro-Louisville area offers the supplier the right skills to meet customer needs.

“We continue to be very pleased by the experience and skill levels of the workforce in Simpsonville and the greater Louisville area,” said Endrud. “I’m confident that this team will allow us to continue to grow in North America and strengthen our presence in the region.”

Louisville is home to a Ford assembly plant.

The Faurecia seating unit alone has operations at 76 sites in 25 countries making seating mechanisms, frames and mechatronics systems.

North America is its second-largest region after Europe.

Faurecia employs over 20,000 in the US, Mexico and Canada.
