The World Markets Research Centre said that preliminary figures show that new passenger car sales in Poland fell by 9.7% in February 2003 to 25,447 units. In the year to date, registrations are up by 9.1% to 53,647 units, compared to 48,728 units registered in the first two months of 2002.

Italy’s Fiat Auto held onto its leading position in February with a 19.5% market share, down from 22.5% in February 2002. Second position was taken by Czech carmaker Skoda, with sales up 28.6% year on year to 6,331 units. France’s Renault was third with 10.8% of the market and February sales of 5,830 units, and Toyota of Japan was in fourth position, taking 10.4% of the market on monthly sales of 5,582 units. Opel was fifth with a 9.19% market share, on sales up 9% year on year to 4,932 units, the WMRC report said.
