CEO Ralf Speth said: “We are… employing and developing the people that will help ensure our continued success.”

The graduates began their two-year programme with a formal induction week, during which they met Speth and other members of the board, familiarised themselves with the latest vehicle lineand had a glimpse at some future products.

JLR is the highest-ranking automotive manufacturer in The Times’ Top 100 List of Graduate Employers, moving up to 16th position in 2014/15.

Group marketing director, Phil Popham, originally began with JLR as a new graduate and is now a board member. He said: “The graduate scheme provides an excellent start to a career at Jaguar Land Rover and we very much hope that our latest recruits will become the company’s future business leaders.”

The majority of the new graduate roles are in manufacturing, programmes and engineering, with some 200 of the latest intake working in those areas. Roles are also being filled in commercial areas such as finance, HR, IT, marketing, sales, property, logistics and PR. A similar split between engineering/manufacturing and non-engineering departments is expected for the 2015 intake.

The graduate programme is designed to provide a blend of personal and professional development, along with opportunities to network with other graduates and build relationships across the entire business. Graduates joining JLR are allocated a ‘home’ department based on their specialism and will, over the course of the two-year programme, have an opportunity to gain varied experience within that area.

Over the past four years, JLR has recruited around 1,200 young people onto its graduate programme. It also offers a number of paid work placements for undergraduates.
