IKCO said its cars will be exported to Tunisia after it signed a contract with a local company which plans to open a sales and after-sales service centre.
The cooperation will also include providing IKCO cars with parts supplied by Tunisian makers. In 2012, a letter of understanding was signed, based on the Irano-Tunisia economic cooperation commission’s agreement, regarding the dispatch of 1,000 kitsets to Tunisia.

In the past the Tunisian government had a monopoly over car imports but the obstacles are gradually being removed. IKCO sees Tunisia as a threshold to enter North African countries, mainly Libya and Algeria.
Global carmakers have a special interest in North African markets. IKCO has also exported cars to this region in recent years. The company aims to improve sales in these countries and has an assembly plant in Senegal.
