Cadillac plans to begin manufacturing its SRX SUV in China from 2015, CarNewsChina.com reported. The model, which is currently imported, will be built at a new plant near Shanghai.
The price of the locally-made SUV will range from CNY350,000 (US$56,973) to CNY500,000, while the imported SRX is priced between CNY429,800 and CNY629,800. The imported version costs more because it is powered by either a 271hp three-litre V6 engine or a 318hp 3.6-litre V6, and China imposes extra purchase tax on vehicles with engines bigger than 2.9 litres.
