Audi has reportedly scrapped its hybrid-powered A6 due to low sales.
A report in Car and Driver said that the company has sold a mere 4,000 units of the variant, which was launched in 2011. Some 80% of sales were in Asia.

The vehicle is powered by a 155kW 2.0 TFSI petrol engine paired with a 33kW/211Nm electric motor, travelling 0 to 100km/h in 7.3 seconds. A6 Hybrid had a fuel economy of 6.2 l/100km and could cover up to three kilometres on battery power alone, while travelling at around 60km/h.
It is speculated that the axe fell on the A6 Hybrid when a mid-life facelift became due. Rather than invest in that, the company decided to pull the model.
However, reports suggest that Audi is considering a plug-in hybrid version of the A6 for the next generation model and that the VW Group sees the plug-in hybrid route as the way to go on electrification for models across its brands.
