Volvo Cars saw global sales rise 14% in July to 33,650 compared to the same month last year on the back of strong growth in China and a healthy performance in Europe.

Sales in the seven months to July are down 3.2% at 242, 767.

China was the star of the month with sales up 61.6% to 4,640; the XC60 reached 2,278 sales which Volvo notes is an all-time sales record for an individual month.

In Europe, sales grew 16.8% to 17,000 units with Sweden reporting growth of 15.1% to 3,258 units.

The XC60 is the company’s best-selling model with sales up 13.1% in the month to 8,810 with the V40 second on global sales of 7,000.
