Sorokin has headed the GAZ LCV operation since 2009 – a role he will continue to undertake – while from 2010 he was equally responsible for the manufacturer’s strategy development.

GAZ Group has also created  the positions of chief operating officer and director of business and corporate development, with current interior and exterior component supplier, SPM, COO, Gunther Heiden, taking up the former post.

In what GAZ describes as the “near future,” Knorr Bremse Systems for Rail Vehicles COO, Albrecht Kohler, will also join the management team of the automaker as director of business and corporate development.

“Vadim Sorokin has enormous experience of managing an automotive business,” said GAZ parent, Russian Machines chairman, Siegfried Wolf.

“Under his leadership, the LCV division which includes the GAZ plant has reached a new level of development. At the same time Vadim Sorokin has contributed a lot to the roll-out of the division’s best practices across other businesses of GAZ Group.

“With him as president and CEO, the new management team of GAZ Group will focus on improving  business efficiency, will continue to develop the lineup and to strengthen the company’s competitiveness, as well as implement the ongoing joint projects together with international partners.”
