Vehicle production in Mexico rose in July, as did exports, from the same month a year ago according to the local Auto Industry Association (AMIA).
Exports rose 5.8% year on year to 208,151 units and July production was up 17.7% to 238,146 vehicles.

Almost 68% of the vehicles exported went to the US, Mexico’s main (NAFTA) trading partner, compared to 64% in July 2011. The increase followed a dip in the two previous months but, as the US market picks up, so too will demand for goods from south of the border.
The Mexican government has forecast 3.5% economic growth for this year, a slowdown from 3.9% last year.
