Ford India is targeting sales growth of up to 10% across the country this year after selling 96,270 vehicles in 2011.

Growth potential was hampered in the first half of the year due to fuel price increases, high interest rates, and challenging market conditions.

This had an impact on sales in the second quarter of the calendar year, according to Michael Boneham, president and managing director, Ford India.

He said the company sold 6,236 units locally in July, compared to 7,504 vehicles a year ago. However, he expects good sales growth in August and September as India enters its festive season.

Ford is running a number of promotions during the season including free gifts, insurance and accessories.
