Pirelli has unveiled investment at its Carlisle plant in the UK worth GBP20.1m (US$32m) as the tyre manufacturer continues its UK expansion.
The investment comprises GBP11.4m in research and development that will create 37 new jobs and protect 120 posts.

Development of products in Carlisle will result in a further GBP9m investment in new process machinery for volume production, which will secure existing direct and indirect jobs.
“[Some] GBP2m is government money from the Regional Growth Fund,” (RGF) a Pirelli spokeswoman told just-auto. “We applied for RGF money because quite a few companies within the Carlisle area also applied.”
