The Volkswagen Group Rus plant in Kaluga has been given a new, combined target for the annual production of 350,000 VW, Škoda and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

The new total is in accordance with the terms of an Industrial Assembly agreement signed with the government of Russian Federation.

“Overall, Volkswagen Group Rus plans to increase its production volume up to 350,000 vehicles per year until 2018,” said Marcus Osegowitsch, general director of Volkswagen Group Rus.  

“For Kaluga plant, these plans mean increasing production up to 225,000 vehicles per year. We strive to perform according to our goals, as well as to the terms of Industrial Assembly agreement, and the Kaluga plant plays a crucial role in it,” he added.

Current annual production volumes for Kaluga amount to 160,000 vehicles. In 2013, production of the Škoda Octavia is to be moved to the GAZ works in the city of Nizhniy Novgorod, with another Škoda vehicle, the new Rapid, set to take its place on the line at Kaluga.
